New wide angle equation formalism for forward light propagation

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We have recently modeled paraxial light propagation in strongly confining semiconductor rib waveguide ϒ-junctions with various rapid numerical techniques based on the Fresnel equation. The presence of large refractive index changes, however, brings into question our paraxial description of radiation modes. Accordingly, here we verify these results with a new theoretical and computational procedure.
