Abstract
Many of the unique advantages of optics stem from its almost unlimited fan-in capability. For instance, it is possible for light from 106 or more well defined regions to come together at a single optical element or even in parallel on 106 or more optical detectors, spatial light modulator pixels, etc. Is there a theoretical limit to this fan-in number?
