Monolithic surface-emitting devices with etched micro-mirrors

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We report on the development of surface-emitting lasers with etched micro-mirrors in both the junction-up and junction-down (emission through the substrate) configurations. Material growth, processing, and packaging techniques required to fabricate monolithic devices on a wafer scale are described in detail.
