Abstract

Digital data storage devices using a laser beam for addressing have been under intense development in recent years. Practical devices are finally reaching the stage for product introduction. In this paper, we will present the considerations given in the design of a 1 Gigabyte capacity write-once-read-only digital data storage drive.
