Abstract
The ‘user’ perspective presented here is that of a system developer / integrator, i.e. a company, like Apple, which develops computing / storage systems for end users who must find the system adequate, affordable, financially safe, and even exciting. Key issues considered are: application demands, competing storage alternatives, storage environment, OEM costs, performance and capacity, and growth paths.
