Abstract
The Dolby Stereo Digital film sound system is Dolby’s next logical development beyond the Dolby Stereo A-type and SR-type systems. SR*D, the name of the print format used by the Dolby Stereo Digital system, is derived from SR (Dolby’s Spectral Recording) and D (for Digital), since both signals coexist on the film print. The system is officially known as Dolby Stereo Digital in theatres, and will be known as Dolby Surround Digital in the home theatre market.
