Abstract

The effectiveness of loss-compensation in the pulse compression using a dispersion decreasing fiber was confirmed with the computer simulations and experiments. By using Raman amplification to compensate for the fiber loss of dispersion decreasing fiber, the obtained pulse width was decreased by a factor of 2.
