Abstract
At the advent of multi-media age, following explanation will be made on DVD as a next generation storage media, that is, an optical disc which has high capacity, high quality and digital processing capability; from the aspects of (1) the development process and technological contents, (2) the merits and prospective future supported by unified standardized format, (3) the market forecasts for visual, audio, and computer areas where DVD will be introduced, and (4) the estimates of the future market size as recordable storage media which is expected to be developed from the playback only media.
