In future optical time-division-multiplexed (OTDM) transmission systems[I], stable time-division-multiplexing of optical signals without fluctuations in pulse separation is important in order to suppress the influence of the crosstalk from adjacent pulses on demultiplexing, and to minimize the jitter in timing extraction.
