System Impact of Laser Phase Noise On 400G And Beyond Coherent Pluggables

Abstract

We show that 800G systems are highly sensitive to phase noise of local oscillator. We introduce a PI model that correlates well with measured performance. We present performance simulations and limitations of current timing recovery.
