Polarimetric Optical Fibre Sensors : Aspects of Sensitivity and Practical Implementation

Abstract

An analytical model for the pressure and strain sensitivity of birefringent fibres is proposed in agreement with numerical calculations. Results of polarimetry and coherence-multiplexing are presented together with a method for accurately splicing these fibres.
