Temperature-insensitive fiber vector microbend sensor based on two-mode grating inscribed by femtosecond laser

Abstract

Through femtosecond laser irradiation fiber Bragg grating (FBG) can be inscribed in two-mode fiber with neighboring cladding modes coupling in transmission spectrum, which is demonstrated for temperature-insensitive two-dimensional bend sensing in a low curvature range.
