Dynamic Range Extension in Slope-Assisted Brillouin Optical Time-Domain Analyzers with Gain Spectrum Engineering

Abstract

Gain spectrum engineering by augmenting the Brillouin gain probe with a loss one has been applied to a slope-assisted dynamic Brillouin optical time-domain analyzer. More than 70% extension of the dynamic range has been demonstrated.
