Abstract

We discuss the fabrication and testing of a 1.4 meter off-axis parabola made as an off-axis section. This approach, though non-conventional, is justified on the basis of cost. Although the approach looks very cost effective, the fabrication of the off-axis paraboloid is still a difficult task. An approach is discussed which will lead to the easiest possible fabrication technique. We then proceed step by step through the entire fabrication process stressing those areas of fabrication and test which have been particularly fruitful and also pointing out those areas in which we have had difficulty.
