Abstract

The method of stressed mirror polishing(1,2,3) has been applied during the fabrication of a 2-meter non-axisymmetric segment whose parent paraboloid is nominally 15 meters in diameter. The 2-meter disk of Cer-Vit is a 75mm thick meniscus. This configuration has withstood the applied stressing loads(3) plus ordinary grinding/polishing loads during fabrication.
