Abstract

We have re-examined the equations(1,2) relating the reflectance R and the transmittance T to the optical constants n and k, and the ratio of thickness to wavelength s/λ. One typically measures values of R and T and s/λ, and would like to know the associated optical constants. One method so far has been to resort to the plotted values of R and T as a function of s/λ for various values of the parameters n and k.
