A Comprehensive Optical Model of the Aging, Accommodating Adult Eye

Abstract

Traditional schematic eyes as best exemplified by the Gullstrand eye model have been static.1 Gullstrand presented two distinct sets of lens parameters for a young, mature adult eye, one to describe the eye's state for distance vision and a second to describe the fully accommodated eye. In an earlier paper we used a gradient index model for the crystalline lens and were easily able to describe the optical parameters of the young, mature eye for any level of accommodation.2
