Abstract

Recently there are extensive studies conducted on the phenomenon of steady state two-beam coupling in photorefractive media with the induced index grating π/2 phase shifted from the light interference pattern. However very little attention is paid to the transient energy coupling (TEC) effect in "unshifted" holographic media, such as photorefractive crystal operating in the 'charge drifting' mechanism, and some χ(3) media, etc.. This paper investigates the TEC effect and apply this effect to an optical tracking filter.
