Abstract

Chromium and neodymium codoped gadolinium scandium gallium garnet (Cr: Nd: GSGG) rods were used for the continuous wave (CW) laser experiment with a diode laser as pumping source. TEM00 laser output up to 100 mW was obtained at 1.06 mm with 550 mW pumping. The rod lengths were 10 mm and 18 mm. The diameter of the rods was 3 mm. The slope efficiency of 29 % was obtained with 95 % output mirror. No thermally induced lensing and birefringence were observed at this power level.
