Abstract

A new electron-ion 90° scattering mean-free-path is calculated based on a modified Fokker-Planck The effects of large-angle scattering (ignored in the conventional Fokker-Planck equation) as well as small-angle binary collisions are properly treated. For the first time this calculation manifests the l/lnΛb corrections, where lnΛb is the Coulomb logarithm and is a measure of the importance of small-angle collisions to large-angle scattering.
