Abstract
Hologram fixing from the presence of long-lived complementary gratings in photorefractive media is the topic of much research.1 Many processes consist of two steps: the formation of a principal grating and the establishment of a complementary grating that screens the principal grating. In earlier work, Bashaw et al.1 described the formation of long-lived, complementary gratings from two-level electron-hole transport in Bi12SiO20. This paper describes the role of two-level electron-hole transport in establishing complementary gratings.
