Abstract

Recently one of us (M.O.S.) predicted that enhancement of refraction index with zero absorption is possible[1] via atomic coherence and interference processes. Due to its potential application to laser acceleration, optical microscopy, and magnetometer, it attracts a lot of attention. It is well known that atomic coherence can be established by a coherent field. It has been, shown,[2] in principle, that it is possible to produce high-index of refraction by incoherent processes.
