Abstract
Local injection/detection (LID) blocks, such as the one shown in Fig. 1, are being used for fiber alignment during single-mode fiber splicing. The stress induced by the small bend radius is estimated as 2.85 GPa, and the fiber length subjected to this stress is equivalent to ~1 mm for the design shown in Fig. 1
