Abstract
Vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) have great potential for various uses in optical communication, optical computing, optical interconnects, and optical storage. Among their unique features are a circular output beam ·with a small divergence, low threshold current, and easy formation of 2-D arrays.
