Abstract

The wavelength of laser diodes change with an approximate rate of 0.25 nm/ °C, mainly due to the change in band gap with temperature. The wavelength change causes absorption length variation of the diode light in the laser crystal. This in turn induces output energy variation with temperature and demands diode temperature stabilization. In diode-pumped Nd:YAG systems this requirement(1) is below ± 4 °C.
