2-dimensional Low-profile Fiber Coupler for Co-packaged Optics

Abstract

2-dimensional low-profile fiber coupler (2D-LPC) with 64-SMFs and 8-PMFs is demonstrated for co-packaged optics. The fabricated 2D-LPC shows high density of 24 fibers/mm, total height of 5.5 mm, low insertion loss of < 0.5 dB, and high polarization extinction ratio of > 20 dB.
