Abstract

Multiwave mixing processes in laser diodes and semiconductor optical amplifiers have attracted considerable attention in recent years. Cavity-enhanced nearly-degenerate four-wave mixing is of particular interest because of the very high phase-conjugate reflectivities which can be achieved by these means. Enhanced four-wave mixing can also be exploited in wide-band all-optical frequency conversion. The present paper reports a theoretical investigation of nearly-degenerate multi-wave mixing in above-threshold laser diodes with low1 and/or asymmetric facet reflectivities.
