Abstract

Many classical optical systems are able to use the ambient light in their surroundings to provide the necessary energy to produce a useful image. Other optical systems require highly specialized illumination systems. These illumination systems are required to illuminate the scene or target at precisely the correct angle and dimensions. They may also have very stringent uniformity specifications.
