Abstract

We report output coupling of guided modes in an electrically pumped GaAs/GaAℓAs ring laser. The device which utilizes a grating coupler^1-5 has the advantages of low laser threshold, which is characteristic of diode ring lasers, and of highly collimated, polarized output beams.
