Abstract
The AT&T MAC-II optical fiber connector uses silicon V-groove technology to align an array of twelve fibers. The fibers on each side of the connector are epoxied to a pair of silicon V-groove blocks, as illustrated in Fig. 1. Steel alignment rods which rest under spring pressure in larger V-grooves at the ends of the blocks serve to align the two sides of the connector. The center-to-center spacing between the fibers is 0.25 mm.
