Abstract

The nonequilibrium dynamics of electron-hole pairs in semiconductors photoexcited by ultrashort pulses continue to be of considerable interest. Hot-carrier cooling in III-V semiconductors and the dynamics of laser transitions in II-VI semiconductors have been investigated extensively. However, very little information is available about the carrier cooling in II-VI semiconductors. In view of the increasing current interest in II-VI semiconductors, it is important to understand their ultrafast dynamical processes. We report here some of the first results on hot-carrier and interband recombination dynamics in CdSe.
