Abstract

The information loss in the modulating process of the phase-encoding plate is analyzed by means of the H-D curve of silver halide film, which shows that there exist some limiting conditions1 for certain regions of information processed, and information loss is inevitable. Utilizing the special characteristics of silver halide film, we describe a new technique for enhancing and reserving the wholeness of required information. We also suggest a further application of the multiexposure phase-encoding plate and present relevant experimental results, which seems to be a good way of enriching the output colors.
