Discrete Mapping for Nonlinear Media in Optical Resonators

Abstract

We study the instabilities which occur in linear and ring resonators, with delayed feedback. We use three models for the optical nonlinearities:

1) the coeffcients of absorption α(I) and reflection n(I) are linear functions of the light intensity (Kerr medium);

2) α(N) and n(N) are linear in excitation density N;

3) α(N) and n(N) are given by the Banyai-Koch model for semiconductors.
