Abstract

The 130 mm Magneto-Optical (MO) disk cartridges with a capacity of 1.3 Gbytes have been standardized recently. Using the same disk as defined by the standard, except for the point of the disk being single sided, we have developed an overwritable MO drive featured by the magnetic field modulation method1)2), and mark position recording method. So, this MO drive maintains the compatibility with other drives. The data recording is carried out by the combination of constant laser beam irradiation and modulated magnetic field. This paper describes mainly upon the magnetic head driver used in our MO drive.
