Novel method for measuring chromatic dispersion distribution in a transmission line

Abstract

A nondestructive technique for measuring chromatic dispersion distribution is proposed, which is based on bi-directional OTDR. It is confirmed experimentally that our method can be applied to a transmission line composed of various kinds of fiber.
