Abstract

Ti:LiNbO3 (LN) waveguide devices have been used in commercial communications systems 9. The incentive to introduce these devices arose from the wavelength chirping problem in LD-direct current modulation for high-speed long-haul transmission systems. This problem encouraged the study of external modulators and caused their rapid development. These recent advances will be discussed in this presentation.
