Abstract
In the process of acquiring three new optical coating chambers, several United States and European manufacturers were surveyed with respect to the automation that could be demonstrated for optical coating processes. The findings of that survey show that several manufacturers have or are rapidly approaching automation which allows the production of high quality optical coatings without operator intervention after the process is developed and a specific run has been initiated.
