Abstract

Rugate filters exhibit a spectral response which is the Fourier transform of the refractive index profile. Where the index modulation is apodised and matched to the incident and exit media using a quintic polynomial profile, it is possible to generate spectral characteristics with minimal sidelobes and absence of harmonics.
