PLC platform technologies for photonic packet switching

Abstract

Silica-based planar lightwave citrcuits (PLCs) have provided several key components for optical wavelength-division-multiplexing (WDM) systems including large-capacity transmission systems and photonic packet switching nodes. This paper reviews recent work on PLC platform technologies and their applications in connection with photonic packet switching nodes.
