9. Peer Review

Our Peer Review Process

Overview

To be published in an Optica Publishing Group journal, manuscripts must meet our established high quality standards, reporting original, significant results of interest to the optics and photonics community. Review by external referees is required for acceptance of all research articles, review papers, tutorials, discussion papers, comments and replies.

Optica Publishing Group journals use a single anonymous peer review process where the reviewers are aware of the authors’ identities, but the author does not know who the reviewers are.

All manuscripts are screened by the editors before being sent to reviewers for external review.

Two of our journals, Optics Continuum and Optica, have a transparent peer review process. If the authors and peer reviewers agree, the reviewers' reports and authors’ responses are posted alongside the published paper.
