Abstract

We describe a straightforward nanofabrication technique for producing elements of atom optics,[1] which has been used to make diffraction gratings, single and double slits, and zone plates. Data from the diffraction of sodium has been analyzed to determine the ratio of grating bar width to grating period. Three gratings have been used to make an atom interferometer[2] and experiments currently underway with this device will be discussed.
