Abstract

Ultrafast optoelectronic devices are crucial for fulfilling the requirement of the throughput of future optical communication and processing systems in a range of 1 Tb/s to 10 Tb/s. This paper discusses the present status and future prospects of ultrafast optoelectronic device technology and introduces MITI/AIST R&D Project on Femtosecond Technology.
