Acknowledgements

The purpose of your acknowledgments section is to thank those individuals who helped with the manuscript but did not qualify for authorship (be sure to check the journal instructions for its authorship criteria; more information about authorship considerations is available in section 5 on Authorship. Individuals warranting acknowledgment may include anyone who provided intellectual assistance, technical help, or special equipment or materials. Be sure to obtain written permission from anyone you plan to acknowledge stating that they are aware of and agree to being mentioned in the acknowledgments section of your article.

Example:

Statistical support was provided by Albert J. Brooks, University of Missouri. Writing assistance was provided by Writing Associates, Inc. Optical Design support was provided by Optics Design, Inc. The authors would like to thank Mary Smith for her valuable advice and Jane Garcia for the critical reading of the manuscript.
