Purpose of the Introduction

The Introduction allows editors, reviewers, and readers to understand your motivation for performing the study and the importance of the research. It also provides important background information and puts your study into the larger context of the previously published literature. In comparison to the abstract, which is a brief summary of the entire article, an Introduction provides more detail about the subject area and the rationale for the study and states the aims and objectives.
